Tucson zoo times. Nov 04 2018 The hike is an approximately 15-mile loop much of which is comprised of wading in Muddy Creek between steep and narrow canyon walls. In many places the stream spreads across the entire floor of the narrow canyon and you are in the water about half the time. Theres something here for everyone.

The route is 15 miles long and will require 8 to 10 hours form trailhead to trailhead. It has an uninspiring name yet Muddy Creek forms the deepest canyon in the San Rafael Swell and for many miles flows through a spectacular gorge of colorful sandstone - known as The Chute the vertical walls here rise for several hundred feet above the streambed which usually has running water all year. The first three miles and last five miles or so of the hike are through fairly wide canyons with ample room on the banks to walk.
